Japanese Rice Balls
Onigiri are traditional Japanese rice balls, a common lunchbox item that can be customized with various fillings.

Instructions

If using, cut 1 to 2 nori sheets into 8 or 9 strips.

Wet hands with water, then rub with salt.

Place about 1/2 cup steamed Japanese rice in your hand.

Form the rice into a dense shape, add your preferred filling, and gently press it into the rice.

Using both palms, lightly press the rice to enclose the filling and form it into a round, triangle, or cylinder.

Optionally, wrap the rice ball with nori strips or sprinkle with sesame seeds.
