Instructions

  1. If using, cut 1 to 2 nori sheets into 8 or 9 strips.

  2. Wet hands with water, then rub with salt.

  3. Place about 1/2 cup steamed Japanese rice in your hand.

  4. Form the rice into a dense shape, add your preferred filling, and gently press it into the rice.

  5. Using both palms, lightly press the rice to enclose the filling and form it into a round, triangle, or cylinder.

  6. Optionally, wrap the rice ball with nori strips or sprinkle with sesame seeds.
