Japanese Coffee Jelly Recipe

Instructions

  1. Combine 1 tablespoon unflavored gelatin powder with 1/4 cup water in a small bowl.

  2. Bring 2 cups strongly brewed coffee and 2 tablespoons sugar to a near boil in a medium saucepan.

  3. Remove from heat, then whisk in the gelatin mixture until fully dissolved and allow to cool for 10 to 15 minutes.

  4. Pour the mixture into an 8- or 9-inch square or 11 x 7 inch shallow baking dish and refrigerate for about 5 hours until set.

  5. Once set, cut the coffee gelatin into 1/2-inch cubes.

  6. Serve the cubes in individual dishes, optionally topped with whipped cream.
