Instructions

  1. Soak bamboo skewers for several hours or prepare metal skewers.

  2. Combine sugar, soy sauce, sake, ginger, garlic, sesame seeds, oil, and green onions in a container, then mix and refrigerate.

  3. Slice beef flank steak into thin 2x2-inch pieces.

  4. Marinate beef in the prepared sauce for a minimum of two hours, but no longer than four hours to prevent over-salting.

  5. Thread beef pieces onto the prepared skewers and discard any remaining marinade.

  6. Grill the skewered beef over medium-high heat for approximately three minutes per side, or until cooked to desired doneness.
