Instructions

  1. Mix brown sugar, salt, paprika, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and cayenne pepper in a bowl.

  2. Dry chicken and rub thoroughly with the seasoning mixture.

  3. Add 1 cup of water and a trivet to the Instant Pot, then place seasoned chicken on the trivet.

  4. Brush chicken with 1/4 cup barbecue sauce.

  5. Secure the Instant Pot lid, set to high pressure for 18 minutes, then allow 10 minutes natural release followed by quick release.

  6. Preheat broiler. Transfer chicken to a foil-lined pan, brush with more barbecue sauce, and broil for 2-4 minutes until lightly charred (optional).

  7. Serve with preferred sides and additional barbecue sauce.
