Hungarian Fried Lángos
A Hungarian fried bread snack, Lángos is made with six ingredients including flour, yeast, and mashed potatoes, often topped with garlic, sour cream, or cheese.

Instructions

Heat an inch of canola oil to 350 F in a large skillet.

Combine 1 cup mashed potato, 2 1/2 teaspoons instant yeast, 1 teaspoon sugar, 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour, 1 tablespoon vegetable oil, 3/4 teaspoon salt, and 1/2 cup milk in a mixer bowl.

Mix until well moistened, then knead for 5 to 7 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.

Transfer the dough to a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour until doubled.

Divide the dough into 4 equal portions, shape each into a ball, and let rest for 20 minutes on a floured board.

Flatten each dough ball into an 8-inch disc and make slits in the center.

Fry each lángos individually for about 2 minutes per side until golden, then drain on paper towels.

Serve hot, rubbed with garlic, and seasoned with salt.
