How to Make Poori (Fried Indian Flatbread)
Poori is a crispy, golden, deep-fried Indian bread, perfect for serving alongside various dishes and pickles.

Instructions

Heat oil or ghee in a thick-bottomed pan over medium heat.

Combine whole wheat flour and a pinch of salt in a large mixing bowl.

Gradually add water and mix to form a soft dough.

Knead the dough on a clean surface until smooth and medium-soft.

Incorporate 2 tablespoons of oil or ghee into the dough by kneading until silky.

Cover the dough with a damp cloth and refrigerate for 20 minutes.

Divide the chilled dough into smooth, golf ball-sized portions.

On a lightly floured surface, roll each ball into a 5-inch circle, approximately 4-5 mm thick.

Once the oil is hot, fry pooris one at a time, pressing gently to puff, until golden on both sides.

Drain fried pooris on paper towels and serve immediately.
