Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 F with a rack in the center.

  2. In a large bowl, whisk sugar, egg whites, and salt until the sugar dissolves.

  3. Whisk in melted butter, flour, and vanilla until well-blended.

  4. Line a cookie sheet with parchment or a silicone mat. Drop 2 tablespoons of batter per cone, ensuring wide spacing, and bake no more than 4 at a time.

  5. Spread each batter scoop into a 4-inch circle. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes until light golden.

  6. Immediately remove the sheet and quickly form warm cookies around a cone mold, using a towel if too hot, before they set.

  7. Alternatively, drape baked cookies over an inverted muffin tin to create bowls.

  8. Allow cones or bowls to cool completely before filling.
