How to Make Apple Cider

Instructions

  1. Chop apples and place them in a slow cooker, covering with cold water.

  2. Place spices in a cheesecloth bag, tie, and add to the slow cooker, securing the string to the handle.

  3. Start boiling the water in the slow cooker, then reduce heat to low and cook for 6 hours until apples are very soft; turn off the cooker.

  4. Sweeten the cider to taste with agave, honey, or brown sugar.

  5. Remove the spice bag, then press the cooked apples to extract remaining juice.

  6. Strain the liquid through a cheesecloth-lined sieve into a large container.

  7. Serve warm with lemon and apple slices, or chill for a cold drink.
