How to Froth Milk

Frothed milk for espresso drinks like lattes and cappuccinos can be precisely prepared at home with a steam wand.

Instructions

  1. Pour cold milk into a metal pitcher and place it under the steam wand.

  2. Insert the steam wand just below the milk's surface, engage the steam, and create a vortex by positioning the wand near the pitcher's side.

  3. Move the pitcher up and down to incorporate air, reducing bubble size until the milk doubles in volume for a cappuccino or increases by 1.5 times for a latte.

  4. Disengage the steam, remove the wand, and clean it immediately.

  5. Pour the frothed milk into your coffee beverage, reserving some for latte art if desired.
