How to Cut Open and Eat a Pomegranate

An easy method for efficiently extracting seeds from a pomegranate.

Instructions

  1. Remove the top of the pomegranate to expose the seeds and white ribs.

  2. Score the peel along the six white ribs, avoiding cutting through the fruit.

  3. Separate the pomegranate into sections, breaking them into smaller pieces as needed.

  4. Remove and discard any white membrane covering the seed clusters.

  5. Invert each section to dislodge the seeds, then rub off any remaining seeds from the pith.

  6. Repeat for all sections, then use or enjoy the seeds.
