Instructions

  1. Start boiling 2 inches of water in a large pot over high heat with a steamer rack inserted, ensuring the water is below the rack.

  2. Husk the corn, remove the silk, trim damaged kernels, and cut ears in half if needed to fit the steamer.

  3. Once the water boils, place the prepared corn into the steamer basket, cover the pot, and steam for 4 minutes for crisp corn, 7 minutes for softer, or 10 to 15 minutes for very soft corn.

  4. Turn off the heat, carefully remove the corn with tongs, and serve immediately.
