Homemade Tartar Sauce

A quick, traditional tartar sauce combines mayonnaise, pickles, and herbs, perfect for fish and seafood.

Instructions

  1. Combine 1/2 cup mayonnaise, 1 1/2 tablespoons finely chopped dill pickles or cornichons, 1 tablespoon fresh or 1 teaspoon dried dill, 1 tablespoon lemon juice, 2 teaspoons grainy mustard, 2 teaspoons minced onion (if using), 1 teaspoon chopped capers, a pinch of kosher salt, and a pinch of black pepper in a small bowl.

  2. Stir thoroughly, then taste and adjust seasonings.

  3. Refrigerate until serving.
