Homemade Mozzarella Sticks Recipe

Instructions

  1. Line a freezer-safe baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. Cut the mozzarella block into 24 strips, 1/2-inch square and 3 to 4 inches long.

  3. Prepare three separate dishes: one with flour, one with whisked eggs and milk, and one with panko mixed with garlic powder, salt, dried parsley, and cayenne pepper.

  4. Coat each mozzarella strip by dredging it in flour, then dipping in the egg mixture, and finally pressing into the panko mixture; place on the prepared sheet.

  5. Cover and freeze the coated mozzarella sticks for about 2 hours until completely solid.

  6. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or pot to 350 F.

  7. Fry the frozen sticks in batches for 1 to 2 minutes total, turning until golden brown on all sides.

  8. Transfer the fried sticks to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

  9. Serve immediately.
