Homemade Hot Cocoa With Marshmallows

An old-fashioned hot cocoa combines cocoa powder, milk, vanilla, and sugar, traditionally topped with mini marshmallows.

Instructions

  1. Scald milk in a medium saucepan.

  2. While the milk heats, blend cocoa and sugar in a small bowl.

  3. Stir 1/3 cup of the hot milk into the cocoa-sugar mixture, then pour into the saucepan with the remaining hot milk.

  4. Add vanilla and whisk until thoroughly blended.

  5. Serve topped with mini marshmallows, optionally dusting with cocoa powder.
