Homemade Eggnog Recipe

Instructions

  1. Beat egg yolks; slowly add 1/4 cup sugar until dissolved, then mix in vanilla extract, nutmeg, and salt until the mixture is thick and pale yellow.

  2. Gradually beat in the bourbon, followed by the milk and heavy cream.

  3. Cover and refrigerate for at least one hour.

  4. Before serving, whip egg whites to soft peaks, then gradually beat in the remaining 1/4 cup sugar until soft peaks reform.

  5. Gently fold the whipped egg whites into the chilled egg yolk mixture.

  6. Serve in mugs or glasses, topping with grated nutmeg.
