Homemade Crème de Menthe Recipe
A homemade crème de menthe utilizes a natural fresh mint infusion, perfect for various cocktails.

Start boiling water in a saucepan; add sugar and stir until dissolved, then simmer for 5 minutes before cooling completely.

Combine vodka and torn mint leaves in a one-quart jar, shaking well to immerse herbs; infuse for 48 hours, shaking daily.

After 2 days, add the cooled simple syrup to the mint infusion; shake and infuse for an additional 24 hours.

Strain the liqueur through a cheesecloth-lined fine-mesh strainer, discarding mint and repeating once or twice to remove sediment.

Funnel the finished crème de menthe into a 750-milliliter bottle or smaller containers.

Add 3 to 5 drops of green food coloring and shake well to color the liqueur.
