Homemade Caramel Syrup

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan over low heat, combine sugar and 1/4 cup water.

  2. Stir constantly for 8 to 10 minutes until sugar dissolves.

  3. Increase heat to medium-high, cover, and boil for 3 minutes.

  4. Remove from heat, then slowly stream in the remaining 1/4 cup water while stirring.

  5. Stir in vanilla extract and salt.

  6. Allow syrup to cool completely before transferring to a sealed container; store in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
