Homemade Butter in a Jar
Homemade fresh butter and buttermilk can be easily made from heavy cream using only a jar.

Instructions

Fill a jar halfway with heavy cream and seal it tightly.

Shake the jar vigorously for 5 to 8 minutes until the cream separates into a solid butter ball and milky buttermilk.

Open the jar and drain the buttermilk from the solid butter.

If storing, knead the butter under cold running water for up to 8 minutes until the water runs clear to remove excess buttermilk.

Mix salt into the butter if desired, then refrigerate for storage.
