Homemade Bottled Mexican Hot Sauce

A homemade Mexican-style hot sauce can be easily made with common ingredients to enhance various dishes.

Instructions

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a nonstick saucepan over medium heat.

  2. Sauté sliced jalapeños, garlic, and onion for 5 to 10 minutes until the onion is transparent.

  3. Add water, bring to a boil, then cover and gently boil for about 15 minutes.

  4. Remove from heat and let the mixture cool completely to room temperature.

  5. Transfer the cooled mixture to a blender, add salt, and blend for one minute; slowly pour in vinegar while blending.

  6. Strain the hot sauce, then use a funnel to pour it into a sterilized, lidded bottle and refrigerate.
