Herby Chestnut Stuffing

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 F.

  2. Cut slits into 2 cups of fresh chestnuts, then boil them in cold water for 25 minutes until tender; cool, peel, and coarsely chop (or use 2 cups of rinsed and drained canned chestnuts).

  3. Melt 1 cup butter in a saucepan, then add the chopped chestnuts, 1 onion, 2 cloves garlic, 1 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon pepper, 1 teaspoon marjoram, 1 teaspoon thyme, and 1/2 teaspoon poultry seasoning; cook for about 3 minutes until onions soften.

  4. Transfer the mixture to a baking dish and combine with cubed bread.

  5. Whisk 3 eggs with 1/3 cup milk, then drizzle over the bread mixture and toss to coat.

  6. The stuffing is ready to be used in your turkey.
