Cook bacon in a large saucepan until almost crisp; remove to crumble and set aside, reserving 1 teaspoon of drippings.

Add leeks, diced onion, butter, and oil to the pan with drippings, then sauté for about 10 minutes until tender.

Sprinkle in flour, then stir in chicken broth and potatoes, cooking until the mixture thickens.
