Heart-Shaped Valentine's Day Cake Recipe

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 F and grease/flour one 8-inch round and one 8-inch square cake pan.

  2. In a large bowl, combine cake mix, water, oil, and eggs; blend on low for 30 seconds, then scrape and beat on medium for 2 minutes.

  3. Divide batter evenly into prepared pans and bake 26-31 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.

  4. Cool cakes in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.

  5. For frosting, whisk milk, pudding mix, and confectioners' sugar in a medium bowl, then beat for 2 minutes.

  6. Stir in whipped topping and red food coloring.

  7. Leave the square cake whole and cut the round cake in half.

  8. Arrange the square cake with the two round cake halves on a serving tray to form a heart.

  9. Frost the entire cake with the prepared topping.

  10. Decorate with candies or sprinkles.
