Hamburger Hot Dogs Recipe

Ground beef is shaped into logs, broiled, and served in toasted buns as a fun alternative to traditional hot dogs.

Instructions

  1. Preheat the broiler to high with a rack 4-5 inches from the top.

  2. Microwave the onion, garlic, and oil for 1 minute until softened.

  3. Transfer the onion-garlic mixture to a large bowl, then add bread crumbs, milk, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, and pepper; mix thoroughly.

  4. Incorporate the ground beef by hand until just combined.

  5. Form the beef mixture into four 7-inch long, 3/4-inch thick logs and place them on a broiler pan.

  6. Broil the logs, turning once, for 8-11 minutes until a meat thermometer registers 160 F.

  7. Place a cheese slice on each log and broil for an additional 30 seconds until the cheese melts.

  8. Serve the cooked logs in hot dog buns with pickle relish, ketchup, and mustard.
