Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 350°F and line two cupcake pans.
-
Beat sugar, butter, and vegetable oil until creamy, then melt chocolate in the microwave and mix it with vanilla into the sugar mixture. Incorporate eggs one at a time.

Whisk together flour, cocoa powder, cornstarch, salt, and baking soda. In a separate bowl, combine sour cream, milk, and water.
-
Alternately mix the dry and wet ingredients into the chocolate batter until just combined; do not overmix.
-
Fill each cupcake liner two-thirds full and bake for 12 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
-
Cool cupcakes completely on a rack.
-
Divide frosting into five bowls and dye them green, black, orange, and white for various decorations.
-
To decorate pumpkin cupcakes: pipe five curved lines with orange frosting, add green leaves, and draw a black face.
-
For mummy cupcakes: apply overlapping flat stripes of white frosting like bandages, then attach candy eyes.
-
To create Frankenstein's Monster cupcakes: pipe and spread green frosting, add black frosting for hair, a squiggly mouth, and stitches, then attach candy eyes.
