Instructions

  1. Preheat the grill to high heat.

  2. Combine 1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce, 1/4 cup chopped scallions, 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice, 1 teaspoon sesame oil, and 1 teaspoon grated ginger in a zip-top bag.

  3. Add 4 (6-ounce) tuna steaks to the bag, coat completely, and marinate in the refrigerator for 20 minutes.

  4. Place 1/2 cup sesame seeds on a plate.

  5. Remove tuna steaks from the marinade, brushing off scallions, and reserve the marinade.

  6. Coat each steak thoroughly with sesame seeds, pressing them on.

  7. Lightly spray the grill plates, then cook tuna steaks for 3 minutes per side for a rare interior, adjusting time for desired doneness.

  8. Remove steaks from the grill and keep warm.

  9. While the tuna cooks, pour the reserved marinade into a small saucepan and bring it to a boil.

  10. Mix 1/2 teaspoon cornstarch with 1 teaspoon water to create a slurry; add to the saucepan, whisking, and simmer for 3 to 4 minutes until the sauce thickens.

  11. Slice the cooked tuna steaks diagonally into thin pieces, fan on a plate, and drizzle with the thickened sauce.
