Instructions
-
Preheat the grill to high heat.
-
Combine 1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce, 1/4 cup chopped scallions, 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice, 1 teaspoon sesame oil, and 1 teaspoon grated ginger in a zip-top bag.
-
Add 4 (6-ounce) tuna steaks to the bag, coat completely, and marinate in the refrigerator for 20 minutes.
-
Place 1/2 cup sesame seeds on a plate.
-
Remove tuna steaks from the marinade, brushing off scallions, and reserve the marinade.
-
Coat each steak thoroughly with sesame seeds, pressing them on.
-
Lightly spray the grill plates, then cook tuna steaks for 3 minutes per side for a rare interior, adjusting time for desired doneness.
-
Remove steaks from the grill and keep warm.
-
While the tuna cooks, pour the reserved marinade into a small saucepan and bring it to a boil.
-
Mix 1/2 teaspoon cornstarch with 1 teaspoon water to create a slurry; add to the saucepan, whisking, and simmer for 3 to 4 minutes until the sauce thickens.
-
Slice the cooked tuna steaks diagonally into thin pieces, fan on a plate, and drizzle with the thickened sauce.
