Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425 F and prepare muffin pans by greasing, flouring, or lining them.

  2. Combine flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, and Grape-Nuts cereal in a bowl.

  3. In a separate bowl, mix the egg, milk, and melted shortening.

  4. Add the wet ingredients to the dry mixture and stir until just moistened.

  5. Fill prepared muffin pans two-thirds full.

  6. Bake for 18 to 22 minutes, or until cooked through.
