Grandmother's Cinnamon-Sugar Kuchen (Dairy)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 F (190 C) and prepare a large tube pan by greasing and flouring it.

  2. Combine cinnamon and sugar in one small bowl, and place melted butter in another; set aside.

  3. In a large bowl, whisk cake flour (or all-purpose flour with cornstarch) and baking powder. Rub butter into the flour until crumbly, then stir in sugar.

  4. Form a well in the flour mixture, add eggs, milk, and sour cream, then mix wet and dry ingredients until just combined into a thick batter.

  5. Spread half the batter into the pan. Drizzle with half the melted butter and sprinkle with half the cinnamon-sugar mixture.

  6. Top with the remaining batter, then drizzle with the rest of the melted butter and sprinkle with the remaining cinnamon-sugar.

  7. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a tester comes out clean, taking care not to overcook.
