Grandma's Old-Fashioned Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

Preheat oven to 375 F and prepare baking sheets with grease or parchment.

Cream shortening and brown sugar; mix in eggs one at a time, then buttermilk and vanilla.

Stir sifted dry ingredients into the wet mixture until blended, then add oats and raisins.
