Grandma's Old-Fashioned Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 F and prepare baking sheets with grease or parchment.

  2. Cream shortening and brown sugar; mix in eggs one at a time, then buttermilk and vanilla.

  3. In a separate bowl, sift flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and spices.

  4. Stir sifted dry ingredients into the wet mixture until blended, then add oats and raisins.

  5. Drop tablespoonfuls of dough 2 inches apart onto prepared sheets.

  6. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until lightly browned.
