Ginger Lemonade Recipe

Instructions

  1. Start boiling water in a small saucepan.

  2. Peel and slice the ginger root.

  3. Dissolve raw sugar in the boiling water, stirring constantly.

  4. Add ginger, reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes.

  5. Remove from heat and let syrup steep, covered, until cool (about 1 hour).

  6. Strain ginger from the syrup using a fine-mesh sieve and transfer syrup to a sealed container.

  7. Squeeze 1 1/2 cups of lemon juice.

  8. Combine 1 1/2 cups each of ginger syrup and lemon juice in a pitcher.

  9. Add 4 to 5 cups of water, stirring and tasting until desired flavor is reached.

  10. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour, then serve over ice.
