German Chocolate Pie Recipe

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 F.

  2. Unroll a room-temperature pie crust into an ungreased 9-inch pie pan, pressing firmly and fluting the edge.

  3. Melt the sweet baking chocolate and butter in a heavy saucepan over low heat, then remove from heat.

  4. Stir in sweetened condensed milk, flour, eggs, vanilla extract, and salt until well mixed.

  5. Reserve 1/3 cup coconut for garnish, then stir in the remaining 1 cup coconut and chopped pecans.

  6. Pour the mixture into the prepared pastry shell.

  7. Garnish with the reserved 1/3 cup coconut.

  8. Bake 40 to 50 minutes until the top is firm and the coconut is lightly browned.

  9. Cool completely before cutting.
