Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and line baking sheets with parchment paper.

  2. In a small bowl, combine flour, baking soda, salt, and cream of tartar.

  3. Beat butter in a deep bowl until creamy for 30 seconds.

  4. Add sugars; beat until light and creamy (3-5 minutes). Incorporate egg and vanilla, then beat until fluffy (1 minute).

  5. Gradually add the flour mixture; mix until just incorporated and no flour is visible, then stir in sprinkles.

  6. Drop 1 1/2 tablespoon portions of dough onto prepared sheets, spacing 2 inches apart.

  7. Bake one sheet at a time for 12 to 14 minutes, until edges are lightly browned and tops are set but centers remain soft.

  8. Cool cookies on baking sheets for 5 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
