Frozen Okra Recipe
A simple method for preserving fresh okra, allowing it to be enjoyed year-round.

Instructions

Start boiling a large pot of water.

Combine equal parts white vinegar and water in a bowl; soak the okra for 1-2 minutes, then rinse thoroughly with cool water.

Trim the stems from each okra pod, ensuring the seed cells remain intact.

Blanch small okra pods in the boiling water for 3 minutes, or large pods for 4 minutes.

Transfer the blanched okra to an ice water bath, cool for 5-10 minutes, then drain completely.

Pat the okra dry, then leave whole or chop into bite-sized pieces; optionally, dredge in corn flour if planning to fry later.

Arrange the okra in a single layer on a baking sheet and flash-freeze for 3-6 hours until solid.

Transfer the frozen okra to freezer bags, label with the date, and store in the freezer for up to one year.
