Fried Wonton With Ground Pork and Black Mushrooms

Deep-fried wontons, containing a savory ground pork filling, can be assembled ahead of time for later cooking.

Instructions

  1. Heat oil to 375 F for deep-frying.

  2. Soak mushrooms for 20-30 minutes, then squeeze dry and chop.

  3. Wash and shred bok choy, wash and dice green onion, and mince ginger to yield 1/2 teaspoon.

  4. Combine ground pork, dark soy sauce, sesame oil, sugar, and salt in a bowl.

  5. Stir in the lightly beaten egg and all prepared vegetables to create the wonton filling.

  6. Place a teaspoon of filling onto each wonton wrapper, fold, and seal the edges.

  7. Deep-fry wontons in batches until golden brown, turning for even cooking.

  8. Drain fried wontons on paper towels and serve immediately.

  9. Serve with sweet and sour sauce or red rice wine vinegar.
