Fried Onion Rings

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 200 F and line a baking sheet with paper towels for draining.

Wash, peel, and slice sweet onions into 1/4-inch-thick rings.

Heat 3 to 4 inches of cooking oil in a deep pan or fryer to 365 F.

Combine flour, salt, pepper, and baking powder in one bowl; whisk egg and milk in another, then mix wet into dry ingredients until blended to create the batter.

Dip onion rings into the batter and fry in batches at 365 F for 2 to 3 minutes per side until golden brown.

Transfer fried onion rings to the paper-lined baking sheet to drain, then move to the preheated oven to keep warm while frying remaining batches.

Serve immediately after all onion rings are fried, seasoned with salt.
