Fried Onion Rings

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 200 F and line a baking sheet with paper towels for draining.

  2. Wash, peel, and slice sweet onions into 1/4-inch-thick rings.

  3. Heat 3 to 4 inches of cooking oil in a deep pan or fryer to 365 F.

  4. Combine flour, salt, pepper, and baking powder in one bowl; whisk egg and milk in another, then mix wet into dry ingredients until blended to create the batter.

  5. Dip onion rings into the batter and fry in batches at 365 F for 2 to 3 minutes per side until golden brown.

  6. Transfer fried onion rings to the paper-lined baking sheet to drain, then move to the preheated oven to keep warm while frying remaining batches.

  7. Serve immediately after all onion rings are fried, seasoned with salt.
