Fried Honey-Barbecue Chicken Wings

Copycat honey barbecued chicken wings, resembling a famous restaurant's recipe, are prepared by frying chicken and coating it in a sweet and savory barbecue-honey glaze.

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 325 F.

  2. Heat oil to 350 F in a deep fryer, heavy skillet, or Dutch oven; ensure enough to cover several wings.

  3. Whisk eggs and 1 tablespoon water for an egg wash.

  4. Combine barbecue sauce and honey, adjusting to taste, then set aside.

  5. Coat wings by first shaking them in a bag with flour, then dipping in the egg wash, and finally returning them to the flour bag to achieve a heavy coating, repeating the egg wash and flour process 2 to 3 times.

  6. Fry coated wings in batches until golden brown and crispy, then drain on paper towels.

  7. Dip the fried wings into the prepared sauce and arrange them onto parchment-lined cookie sheets, ensuring no pieces touch.

  8. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the wings are no longer shiny and juices run clear.
