Fried Crab Balls

Simple deep-fried crab appetizers are crafted from fresh crabmeat, mayonnaise, and various seasonings.

Instructions

  1. Heat 3 inches of oil in a medium frying pan to 365 F.

  2. Pick crabmeat, discarding any shells.

  3. Combine crabmeat with beaten eggs, optional onion, cracker crumbs, mayonnaise, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.

  4. Shape the mixture into small balls.

  5. Cover and chill crab balls for at least 30 minutes, or up to one day.

  6. Roll the chilled crab balls in fine breadcrumbs.

  7. Fry breaded crab balls in batches in the hot oil for 3 to 4 minutes until golden brown.

  8. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

  9. Serve hot.
