Instructions

  1. Grease a 13x9-inch baking dish with 1 tablespoon butter, then arrange bread chunks and pecans evenly inside.

  2. In a large bowl, whisk together half-and-half, eggs, brown sugar, vanilla, salt, 2 tablespoons maple syrup, the remaining 2 tablespoons melted butter, and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon.

  3. Pour the mixture over the bread and pecans, pressing lightly to ensure absorption. Cover and refrigerate for 8 to 12 hours.

  4. Preheat the oven to 375 F. While the dish comes to room temperature, combine granulated sugar, remaining 1 1/2 teaspoons maple syrup, and remaining 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon in a small bowl.

  5. Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar topping over the casserole. Bake for 40-45 minutes until puffed and the topping is dark brown and crispy. Let rest for 10 minutes before serving with powdered sugar and maple syrup.
