Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425 F.

  2. In a large bowl, combine and mix flours, baking powder, and salt.

  3. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles cornmeal.

  4. Stir in the cold milk and buttermilk until just moistened.

  5. Gather the dough onto a lightly floured surface.

  6. Roll dough into a 4x10-inch rectangle, brush with melted butter, then fold into three layers.

  7. Roll dough into an 8-inch square and cut into 9 biscuits, or use a 2-inch cutter for round biscuits.

  8. Place biscuits 1 1/2-inch apart on an ungreased cookie sheet and brush tops with melted butter.

  9. Bake at 425 F for 11-14 minutes, until golden brown, then serve.
