Fire Crackers

Crispy, savory crackers are prepared by marinating saltines in a fragrant mixture of oil, Chinese five-spice, garlic, miso, chili crisp, and salt, then baked until golden.

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 300 F.

  2. Whisk together oil, Chinese five-spice, garlic, miso, chili crisp, and salt in a bowl, then transfer the mixture to a large resealable bag.

  3. Add crackers to the bag, seal, and shake to coat; marinate at room temperature for at least 1 hour, shaking occasionally.

  4. Spread crackers evenly on two parchment-lined baking sheets, reserving any large chili crisp chunks in the bag.

  5. Bake for 10 minutes.

  6. Remove crackers from the oven and scatter the reserved chili crisp chunks from the marinade onto them.

  7. Continue baking for approximately 10 more minutes until the crackers are crisp and golden.

  8. Cool crackers on the baking sheets for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to finish cooling.
