Figs In Spiced Syrup
Preserve fresh figs by simmering them in a richly spiced sugar syrup, extending their shelf life.

Instructions

Combine sugar and 1 cup water in a medium saucepan, bringing to a simmer while stirring to dissolve the sugar.

Add cinnamon and any other desired spices to the syrup; simmer for 10 minutes.

Trim fig stems, then add figs to the simmering syrup and cook for 5 minutes.

Remove figs from the syrup and cool the figs and syrup separately for 15 minutes.

Strain the cooled syrup, discard the spices, and pour the syrup back over the figs.
