Start boiling salted water for the fettuccine.

Cook fettuccine as directed, reserving 1/3 cup cooking water before draining.

Simmer cream, butter, salt, and pepper in a skillet over medium-low heat.

Add the cooked fettuccine, 3 tablespoons of reserved water, and cheese to the sauce, then toss; add more cooking water if the sauce is too thick.

Serve immediately, garnished with chopped parsley and extra cheese.
