Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 F.

  2. Grease an 8-inch or 9-inch-square baking pan.

  3. In a large bowl, combine cornmeal, flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.

  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together milk, eggs, and melted butter.

  5. Combine the wet and dry mixtures, stirring until blended, then spoon the batter into the prepared pan.

  6. Bake for 25 minutes, or until the cornbread is firm, browned, and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
