Preheat the oven to 400 F.

Grease an 8-inch or 9-inch-square baking pan.

In a large bowl, combine cornmeal, flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.

In a separate bowl, whisk together milk, eggs, and melted butter.

Combine the wet and dry mixtures, stirring until blended, then spoon the batter into the prepared pan.
