Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef with half the chopped garlic and onion, 1 cup matzo meal, 1 egg, salt, and pepper.

  3. Spread the beef mixture onto greased aluminum foil, forming a flat rectangle.

  4. In a separate bowl, mix ground chicken or turkey with the remaining garlic, onion, matzo meal, 1 egg, salt, pepper, and mustard. Spread this mixture over the beef rectangle.

  5. Arrange mushrooms across the meat mixture's width, then roll it up jelly-roll style, leaving the foil behind.

  6. Place the meat roll onto thawed puff pastry. Encase the roll in the pastry, trim, and seal edges with water. Brush the pastry with a beaten egg.

  7. Transfer the prepared meatloaf to a foil-lined baking sheet. Bake covered with foil for 30 minutes.

  8. Uncover the meatloaf and continue baking for another 30 minutes, or until the pastry turns golden brown.

  9. Serve hot or at room temperature.
