Eggs in a Basket

A simple, kid-friendly breakfast, this dish features an egg cooked directly within a cutout piece of toast.

Instructions

  1. Cut a shape from the center of each bread slice. Butter one side of both the bread slices and the cutout pieces.

  2. Heat a large frying pan over medium-high heat and melt 1 teaspoon of butter in it.

  3. Place the buttered bread slices, butter-side down, in the pan. Carefully crack an egg into the hole of each slice.

  4. Cook for 1 to 2 minutes until the egg is golden on the bottom, then flip and cook for another minute.

  5. Season with salt and pepper, then transfer to a serving plate.

  6. Toast the cutout pieces in the same pan for approximately 1 minute per side.

  7. Serve immediately, garnished with the toasted cutout pieces.
