Easy Turkey à la King

Instructions

  1. Melt 5 tablespoons unsalted butter in a pan over medium heat.

  2. Add 1/2 cup chopped green pepper and 4 to 6 ounces sliced mushrooms; cook, stirring, for 4 to 5 minutes until tender and browned.

  3. Remove vegetables with a slotted spoon and set aside.

  4. Add 1/4 cup all-purpose flour to the pan; cook, stirring, for 2 minutes.

  5. Gradually add 1 1/2 cups half-and-half or milk and 1 (10 3/4-ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup; stir and cook until smooth and thickened.

  6. Stir in 2 1/2 cups cubed cooked turkey, 1 (2-ounce) jar drained chopped pimientos, the cooked green pepper, mushrooms, and 1/2 teaspoon onion powder.

  7. Heat thoroughly and season with salt and pepper.
