Easy, Quick British Flapjack Bars

Deliciously sticky British flapjacks, similar to bar cookies, are quick and easy to prepare.

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 F (180 C).

  2. Grease a 9x9 or 9x13-inch baking pan with 1 teaspoon of butter and line the base with parchment paper.

  3. Gently heat golden syrup and 6 ounces of butter in a large saucepan, stirring until melted.

  4. In a large bowl, combine oats, a pinch of salt, and optional ginger; pour in the melted butter and syrup mixture, then stir to coat the oats.

  5. Transfer the oat mixture into the prepared pan and spread evenly.

  6. Bake for approximately 25 minutes, or until golden brown; remove from the oven while still slightly soft.

  7. On a wire rack, cut the flapjack into squares, but allow it to cool completely in the pan before removing.
