Easy One-Pan Broccoli Macaroni and Cheese

A simple one-pan stovetop macaroni and cheese combines broccoli with a rich cheddar sauce.

Instructions

  1. Start boiling salted water in a saucepan. Cook macaroni according to package directions, adding chopped broccoli 1 minute before the macaroni is done; then drain.

  2. In the same saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in mustard powder, pepper, and flour, cooking for 2 minutes.

  3. Gradually whisk milk into the flour mixture, cooking and stirring until the sauce thickens and bubbles.

  4. Stir in cheese until melted, then taste and adjust salt.

  5. Return the drained macaroni and broccoli to the saucepan and stir thoroughly to combine.

  6. Serve immediately.
