Easy No Yeast Soft Cheddar Pretzels

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 F and lightly grease 2 baking sheets.

  2. In a medium bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar; cut in margarine until the mixture is coarse.

  3. Add cheese and milk, stirring until dry ingredients are just moistened.

  4. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead about 12 times.

  5. Divide the dough in half, then roll each half into a 12 x 8-inch rectangle.

  6. Cut each dough rectangle lengthwise into 8 (1-inch) strips.

  7. Twist each strip into a pretzel shape, then brush with beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse salt.

  8. Place pretzels on the greased baking sheets and bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown, then cool on wire racks.
