Instructions
-
Heat 3/4 to 1-inch deep oil in a frying pan on high heat, testing readiness by dipping a wrapper corner; it should fry immediately.
-
Prepare filling: either drain and cube tofu to 1 cup, or thaw and drain shrimp; combine with green onion, hoisin, and sugar.
-
Lay out 6 wonton wrappers; moisten edges with 1/2 cup water.
-
Place 3/4 teaspoon filling in the center of each wrapper.
-
Fold wrappers into triangles and press edges to seal; optionally, bring the two outside corners together, overlap, and secure with water for an alternate shape.
-
Fry wontons in hot oil, turning until light golden brown.
-
Drain fried wontons on paper towels; repeat for all remaining wontons.
-
Serve with your choice of Thai sweet chili or sweet and sour sauce.
