Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 F.

  2. Prepare the dough using your preferred method (bread machine, food processor, or mixer), combining all ingredients and kneading until it is smooth and elastic. Ensure liquids are warmed to 120-130 F for mixer methods.

  3. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, turn to coat, cover, and refrigerate for 2 hours.

  4. On a floured surface, briefly knead the dough 6 times to release air, then divide it into 3 equal portions.

  5. Roll each portion into a 14-inch circle and cut into 8 pie-shaped wedges. Roll each wedge from the wide edge toward the point.

  6. Arrange the rolled wedges on ungreased cookie sheets, placing them point side down and curving into crescent shapes. Cover and let rise until an indentation remains when gently touched.

  7. Whisk 1 egg with 1 tablespoon water and brush this mixture over the croissants.

  8. Bake for 15 to 18 minutes until golden brown, then transfer from cookie sheets to cool.
